Beloved actor John Goodman has captured our hearts in a variety of iconic film and television roles. He has also struggled publicly with weight gain throughout the years.
Well, he surprised the world when he stepped out on the red carpet on October 8 for the premiere of his upcoming film Trumbo.
John Goodman, who is 63 years old, has lost a massive amount of weight, cutting a slim figure as he posed for photos with co-stars Bryan Cranston and Helen Mirren.
The transformation is stunning.
While the number of pounds he shed hasnt been revealed, he once told David Letterman in an interview that, at his heaviest, he was pushing 400 pounds.
He also said that weight loss is a life-long journey, a concept many people are familiar with:
Im not going to look like Paris Hilton or anything like that. Its going to be an ongoing process for the rest of my life.
Goodman discussed his weight loss journey with The Telegraph UK,noting that it was seeing himself in a film that sparked the desire to lose weight:
I wish I wasnt as fat as I am. It just bothers me.
When I saw a film in which I played Santa Claus recently, I walked away thinking, This is just God-awful. I look terrible. I want to have my mouth sewn shut.
And it got me to lose about 70 pounds.
Trumbo chronicles the life and times of screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, who was blacklisted by Hollywood in the 1950s.
