How Being In Love Helps Some People Lose Weight

Are you one of them?

Are you one of them?

Some people let their bodies go after getting comfortable in a relationship.

However, there is now scientific evidence to suggest that being in love can actually induce weight loss. It all has to do with oxytocin, which is a hormone that affects the brain.

When people get all touchy-feely, oxytocin is released. Even more of this love hormone is discharged during sex and after an orgasm.

In a recent study, 25 participants were fed two portions of a breakfast item of their choice. They each also received a single dose of intranasal oxytocin. (Though you just know they snorted the sh*t out of the leftovers at the end.)

According to the results:

[The hormone] reduced caloric intake with a preferential effect on fat intake… The oxytocin resulted in a shift from carbohydrate to fat utilization and improved insulin sensitivity.

The bad news? The connection between the love hormone and weight loss only applies to men. (Please address your hate letters to God.)
